My guess would be that the loop on the hood does not come down dead center in the latch machanism. I may be wedging in the slot and the finger that closes through the loop isn't moving all the way into latched position.

Have you tried wiggling and jiggling it after closing to see if it would eventually start coming open? That's some scary shieeet btw. Cracked windscreen next.

You can try and adjust your hood standoffs at each of the front corners to make sure the hood is flush/even with the front quater panels. You just srew them up or down to get it to align, they are just rubber bumpers. This should help with the wiggle giggle and the effort it takes to open the hood once the release has been pulled.

I always had issues with my hood moving around but fortunately it never flew open. One could always throw hood pins on the stock hood if you can't get it to stay closed any other way.

I had a P10 where the hood latch got all rusted up and when it was in for a service it popped open when the mechanics had to test drive it. They ponied up for the repair as it happened while they had the car.
So grease the whole latch mecahaism with coppaslip and open and shut quite a few times, it might stay shut then.

thats happened to me in past cars after i had front end accidents. he did'nt say that, i just replaced my hood release cable cause it was frayed and rusted. sounds like he needs to clean and re-grease the release hook assembly if its rusted. if its even a little bent, then its not gonna close all the way. stupid to drive around knowing it does that.
