I just noticed some rust to the left of the left rear left license plate lamp which is in the overhanging area above the license plate.

I will have to take the lamp assembly out and maybe take the fabric cover on the inside of the trunk lid off to see what I can find. It must be that some water could not drain in that area, so that is one problem besides fixing the rust.

It looks like I could see more if the large oval plastic panel behind the license plate that fits into the body comes off. Does anyone know if it comes off and how?

I have this too. Right around and behind the plastic lense. I noticed it when I was changing out license plate light bulbs. Looks like the only way to access would be to take the trunk fabric out and get at it from behind.
