car has a little vibration when idling
I have a 03 se AT, and when my car is idling, there's a little vibration which I think it should not be there ,the tachometer doesnt go up and down, when I put the gear in drive or reverse, there's more vibration... Other than that the car runs fine, no stalls or anything... What can it be? MAF? TB? I plan to clean them but haven't made up my mind coz Im afraid to mess them up...
Thanks
Thanks
i have the same problem with mine, i think if the engine is idling under 650 rpm, its gonna shake. My engine is running at 625 rpm and its shaking a bit and sometimes its going down at 500 rpm and its shaking like an old muscle car lol. And sometime you'll need to clean the injection system and change the sparkplugs. Good luck

You only need to replace the plugs. Unless you have symptoms of misfiring or a check engine light, you don't need to replace the coils.
Btw check your motor mounts. I have this same vibration and my motor mounts are on their way out. I've heard a few people say their vibration problems went away with new mounts.

I think the idle is supposed to be 625 and 750 with a/c on. Or is it 650 and 725. Someone correct me. That is what I remember reading for a m/t too, don't know if that makes a difference.

I have the same prob on my 03 i35. My mechanic said it's the rear motor mount. He says it looks fine and is not cracked. He says he can do the repair for 120 plus mount which is about 250ish. He said that should take care of the vibration. He has never steered me wrong.
I have 110,000 mls by the way and never changed the mounts. But then again I bought the car used. She is a great car. I just do the scheduled maintenance and she runs very well. Besides alittle vibration at idle. The vibration is less without the a/c on
Mine too in the last 8 months has had a little vibration at idle that wasn't there before. It's progressively got worse over time and I changed my plugs about 2 years or 40K miles ago so I really don't think it has anything to do with the plugs. I too think the motor mounts may have small cracks or play in them causing the vibration. Anyone actually replace theirs to confirm this fixes? Is one more prone to wear sooner than the other?
