Hissing Noise in Mid Section

I just came back home and noticed there was a hissing noise. I turned off the car it was gone. Then I turned it back on and it was hissing again, so I came out of the car and looked under the sound is comming from under my car somewhere in the middle. It is not the tires 100% sure! I never had this problem before I just heard it tonight and it bother's me. I have my car for 1 and a half yearthe only thing I did was put a Racingline Y-Pipe but it makes no difference because I had it for a while and it cannot be because of that that's just me. What do you think guy's help me out on this one please.

Is it outside the car or inside the car?

If its outside of the car you might have an exhaust leak. Your flange on the exit of the y pipe might have moved over time. WHEN the exhaust is COLD, ie the morning or so, spray some soapy water all over it. Then turn the motor on and take a look. If there is an air leak it will blow bubbles...then you will know or not know about that one.

Just my $0.02.

If you can hear the "hissing" or low pitched "whine" noise from inside the car at idle, could very well be your fuel pump. Fire your car up and ensure its a quiet area. I'm sure you'll hear a noise coming from under the rear seat. If that's not the noise, not sure what else it might be.

Let me know if that's the noise you're hearing and we can troubleshoot some more.

whatever you said its exact of what i have! its not loud tho but hearable. So what do I do and is it bad? I added the Lucas fuel cleaner nottoo long ago and my car has 18,000 miles maybe thats why?

Another thing when I ripping my car up racing with G's and others cars after like 5 minutes I couldnt drop my gears to 1st or 2nd only third and up and if was to put it in drive it accelerated slow! any thoughts on that?

Greatly would appreciate for the help Thank You!

That loss of power is the car going into limp mode so you dont destroy the transmission, these CVTs heat up fast, its completley normal, just try to take it a little easier on your car.

Mine makes the same noise. There are quite a few electric fuel pumps out there that are just noisy. You've got nothing to worry about! Fuel system cleaner won't make a difference in the sound (however Nissan doesn't recommend using these types of fuel system additives, just an FYI).

Hmmm kind of surprised you made the trans go into "safe mode" only after 5 mins of hard driving in manual mode. Only time I've made mine do that is running the Dragon at maximum attack over the course of 20 mins. Put it back in "D" mode and 3-5 mins later, could upshift myself again. This "safe mode" failsafe in the CVT is designed to kick in when the trans gets too hot. Our transmissions produce a fair amount more heat than a normal geared automatic. Might want to have the dealer check your CVT fluid level just to make sure you've got enough lubrication on all parts in the tranny.

You have no idea how I can rip up my car! I will go to my mechanic and see if the transmission fluid is good or I need more! Highway with traffic I stay on 1st or 2nd gear just ripping it up. Light traffic just D sometimes sport. I did an oil change Mobil 1 Synthetic K&N Oil Filter and changed my front brakes, original Nissan :-).

last issue what the hell is with my rear section exhaust... the left one is more dropped than the right. When I got the car it allready had that lol. what should I do easiest way?!

Damn dude, I drive my car hard on occasion but I think you're worse than me

Is it the Stillen rear section system or just stock? It takes some patience to get it all lined up right at the bumper. Since you only got the rear section, you really can't play with the rear y-pipe like you can with the full CBE. I had an issue with my Stillen passenger side muffler being lower than the drivers side. So I took the muffler hanger mount completely off and banged on the bottom part of the mount with a hammer. This moved the insulator hole up about 1/4" so it's damn near perfect on each side now

Yes it is! I was gonna get the 08-09 M3 but its weak compared to the shelby and is $$$$ to modify. American cars stepped up big time man, 2010 Shelby GT500 is 540hp stock with 510lb/ft.
