3.5 6 speed swap with vortech in 01 ???

Some of you might know i sold my 03 and bought simply v's old supercharged merlot 01 maxima.. Im taking it off the road for the winter and am seriously considering doing a 3 five 6 speed swap and still running the blower..I know you need to swap the timing components over from the 3.0 but does anyone have any personal experiance with this kind of swap and maybe what it would cost ball park ?? I plan on getting an 06/08 motor and trans and obviously a nice clutch..also want a newer ecu as well.Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Tons of 4th gen guys have done it, check the FI forum. They (A32/A33B) are nearly identical in the engine compartment sans a few items here and there, but for the most part, I would imagine it be straightforward as the SC 3.5 in a 4th gen goes.

Exactly like doing it in a 4th gen except you dont have to cut/splice injector harness.

Order cam spacers, swap timing components, keep your same ECU and hit up the "6spd timing ring thread" to make your tranny swap easier.

it's such a clean stock looking car... I'd go with a smaller pulley or EMU, rev till 7200 and go from there... or send the blower in for the SI update and enjoy a non oil burning good running motor and swap the 3.5 in when this one blows...

I hear you with the emu with extended rev limit but this car put down the same tq #s blown and tuned than my 5.5 did with a couple bolt ons and a 3" exhaust, no doubt the 3.0 is a great motor but my 3 five was a mint motor and only burnt about a half quart between oil changes and that was shifting at 6500 plus at least a handfull of times a day..Idk what to do but I was seriously considering the swap..

I'd have to disagree here. Keeping all thing the same on the FI end of the spectrum, but just swapping the motor to the VQ35, he will have a broader and more efficient power band vs going with a smaller pulley and higher revs on the 3.0. Not to mention safer boost levels.

Love the 3.5 but I just simply can't imagine swapping one into an 01 when you can just buy and 02 or 03 with a 3.5 stock...

Haha, guess I don't know enough about forced induction on these cars...I spend too much time tinkering with outdated pushrod motors instead

Lol,i wanted one with a blower and didn't feel like going through all the hassle of doing it myself, this car is set up a little better than mine was and has alot of rare parts on it you can't find anymore.definitly missing my 3" cattman for sure though, the megan sounds like a bag of ***/getting rid of that droney fart cannon is next on the too do list,no offense to anyone with a megan it's like going from a ferrari to a fiero
