Doesn't start in cold at all

My 4th gen will not start outside in the cold, the garage is always a little bit warmer because its attached to the house so I have no problems there. If I turn it off and let it go cold, it won't start. So far I have swapped the temp sensor that is by the top hose on the right of the engine, leading to the same result.

There are 2 temp sensors in that are next to each other. The one you wanted to swap, the ECTS, is the one with 2 wires on it. The other one is strictly for the dash temperature guage and doesn't affect how the car might run.

That's the one I changed, it has a blue male connector on it right?

when you say wont start does it fire over and then stall or never seem to fire?

if it starts at all feather the throttle until the ecu figures it out i have to do that as my iacv is going out. that only changes air/fuel when egine is cold.

I don't recall the color of the connector, but the ECTS has 2 wires and the dash gauge sensor only has one wire.

The crankshaft sensors could be a problem, but they usually aren't temperature sensitive. Are you sure that the engine is cranking over at the proper speed? This is a cold weather symptom of a bad starter or battery or both.

I'm pretty sure the battery, starter, and cps are good. Are there any other temp related sensors that could cause this?

I'm out of ideas at this point. Hopefully someone else will step in.

Did you try cleaning the IVAC and the throttle body? I had similar issue but slightly different where i had to press on gas a little then the engine would start. Give that a try see if it starts in the cold. If it does then you might want to clean your IVAC/throttle body.

swapped the iacv with another one from another engine I have, actually swapped the intake mani, iacv, and throttle body all together.. Same problem I don't get it smh

my 96 just started doing the same thing if its warmer it will turn over like twice and crank right up but if its cold outside i have to pump the gas to get it to start, a few days ago it stalled right after i started it but thats not a common problem i was told it could be my fpr

video i just took, it started right up when inside

Some more background on the car.. a friend of mine bought it last November, it was running fine he only wanted the tranny swap from it so i bought it from him without the swap. i then bought another 5spd max dirt cheap the motor and tranny were good and had significantly less miles so i swapped them into the car together. the setup was from a cali spec car so i swapped the LIM and the vacuum lines/sensors to fed spec in the summer. the car would always start up. now its getting closer and closer to winter and the car does not like to start outside.

open headers cuz im doing a custom exhaust but the car has no plates to get to the shop. im not going to register it if it wont pass inspection because of the no start issue. no check engine light, the car hasnt even been driven more than a mile with this engine in it so i dont think i can pull codes.

That's still a rough start all around.

Assuming you have no CEL, I may venture on crankshaft sensor or a vacuum leak.

When's the last time the fuel filter was changed? Also what about any other maintenance.

havent changed the fuel filter but now i plan too, all the fluids have been changed. i've narrowed the problem down to the ecu, which i was going to change anyway for a SE model. the check engine light was not on but the ecu was throwing the maf code, i changed the maf with the 2 others i have and the code still persisted. i also tried starting the car without the maf and had no luck.

When changing the fuel filter throw on a guage to check the fuel pressure.
