99 Maxima Coil Sensor

I am about to purchase a 99 Maxima and the owner told me before he sells it to me he wants to replace a coil sensor that has failed. He said the symptoms was rough idling and sluggish under heavy acceleration. He said each cylinder has one. Have anu of you guys heard of this and does this sound like a normal maitenance item.

Re: 99 Maxima Coil Sensor

I believe he meant the Ignition Coils. Yes, each cylinder has one. It's easy to replace. 5 mins. I don't know how much the part is.

Parts do go bad so that wouldn't be something I really worry about. As with any used cars, I would take it to a good shop for some pre-purchase inspection. One that would include a leak down test or aleast a compression test. Long test drives and play with everything to make sure it's working.
