how do you open the gosh darn smart key remote to replace the battery?
I've seen the videos online, the instructions online, on how to crack open the remote.
I wish my remote was as easy as it looks in the videos, or in the online instructions.
It simply will not come apart. I am afrid of using brute force on it because it is such an expensive part.
Any advise on how to get the remote to to change the battery, without breaking it?
I've tried tweezers, nail file, screwdrivers, blades...nothing will get the sucker open...

a small screwdriver should do it... try starting with the small dents on the sides of the iKey... removing the emergency key will help... you can actually also try starting from the ridges that you will see when you remove the emergency key... just twist the screwdriver.. don't pry it...
good luck...
good luck...
Thanks...after breaking a nail trying to use it to open the thin crack, stabbing my other hand with a screwdriver while in the process due to the slippery remote, and scratching up the plastic, I finally managed to get it open... what chore!!!
There is instructions in the owners manual, page 8-24 in the 2009 manual. There is also a service bulletin on changing the battery. One thing it states is not to open it by inserting something in the notches on the side.
