XM Traffic

I was wondering if anybody else has had any issues with XM traffic.
I am unable to get a signal from them. I paid for the service and I called them and when I try to look at traffic in the area the nav unit says that you need XM traffic. I was on the phone and the guy resent the signal and we could not get it to work. Is this a Nissan issue or XM issue?

Thanks

not sure about where you live, but a few times, building got in the way of signals etc, but system was already activated. get to a clear spot and try again, if not, i would say its xm- are you getting the stations? and not the traffic?

XM radio works just fine but the traffic does not. I moved my car to an open spot for XM to send the signal but it did not work.

XM traffic

It works on my 2010 in the Tampabay area. Shows a nice green, orange or red line indicating the traffic conditions along with some construction and other icons but only for major roads. You might check the manual (I always hate to resort to that) to see if there is some information on whether its activated. My real guess at the problem would be that XM is not doing something right or during the activation period the car has no satellite visibility or local station. XM uses land based transmitters in urban areas and that my be the source of some of the traffic info.

The traffic reporting on my TOmtom unit was far superior to the xm traffic. It seems the xm traffic does not try to avoid traffic unless there is a full stop...
Simplest example I can think of..
I live on Long Island in NY . Only way out of dodge is west. TomTom , almost ALWAYS, ended up taking you into manhattan via the williamsburg bridge, manhattan bridge, or through staten island.. then through the holland or lincoln tunnel or one of the staten bridges depending on traffic. TomTom, Google maps, NEVER go GW bridge except in the middle of the night or maybe a quiet saturday afternoon. Xm traffic ALWAYS goes George Washington Bridge. ALWAYS. Last trip, reading the xm traffic info it was listed that GW was backed up forever. Yet nav still goes there.. I went LIE, to BQE, to verazano instead which is what was easily the best route if you read the xm traffic reports, or listened to the xm traffic station. Google maps used that route and I am sure that TomTom would have also.. But XM traffic and the Maxima Nav insist on the GW even on the way home from anywahere to the point where sometimes it will suggest a uturn to get back to the GW even if you are already on staten island.

Living in montréal and used XM Traffic on my brother Saab 95 2010 and always worked fine. However I managed to get a free 6 months of XM Traffic for my 2010 max for ''testing purpose''. It never worked for me. Spent hours on the phone with the sexy acadian accent girl from XM Canada (which is I think located in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick). The girl was very very nice, intelligent and everything but, she never got the traffic to work on my ride.... She sent the command to activate it over a dozen time but never worked.

That's just too bad, (Xm, aka Navtek aka Nokia...) got VERY good traffic data for the metropolitan region of Montreal....

Gotta call back the tech support sometime, as this episode appened about 3 months ago. maybe with the update nissan did on my onboard computer it will work, never know.
