wth? bouncing off rev limiter!

I took a friend for a drive to let her feel the SC. Anyway, I floored it and the car seem like it didn't want to shift, it kept bouncing off the rev limiter. WTH? I tried it again and I got the same thing. This wasn't the first time it happened either. However, this time it didn't go away. And yes it was in Drive. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry cant really think of anyhting but i have a friend who had a 99 mustang and he had a charger and for some reason his did the same thing and im not sure what it was, but he had the good old auto too. Not sure if this makes a diff but he had NOS as well and it seemed to do the prob that your describing mostly when he used the nitrous but it did it normally as well. Not sure if that helps but thought id post it anyways.

Sounds like your tranny's going...... Only proper testing will tell, but doesn't sound too good..... (Not trying to be negative, but that's my .02)

Does it not shift only when you get on it @ WOT or does it not shift all the time?

my '95 automatic just started doing the same thing couple days ago - for me it seems it only has trouble hitting the first gear. i give it gas after a full stop and the the car just revs out without moving as if its in neutral. then about 3 seconds later on average it catches and kicks out.

also, car temperature lingers around cold and has trouble working its way up, especially on highway. dont know if related to transmission problem though.

anybody know whats going on? praying that i dont needto replace whole transmission...

I don't know If this helps or not. It's not Directly related to the transmission. A few weeks ago, right after installing my old HAI on the New Max, I had that same proble, also, mine was reluctant to get over 300 or 3500. First I disconnected the battery. Then I disconnected, then re-connected the MAF and Air Temp. Sensors, Then I surrounded each connector in electric tape. I then Waited about 8 hours for the ECU to Forget about everything, reconnected the battery, and everything worked okay. Good Luck...

I forgot to mention that when I went WOT, my car wasn't fully warmed up yet. Could that be the reason? I was giving a ride to a friend. She couldn't stay long, so I had to be quick and didn't let the car warm up before I went WOT.

Did your rims come black or did you powdercoat them? How's it holding up?

No, It wasn't a problem with the sensor. What happened was this: When installing the intake, I had just unscrewed the sensor mounting from the airbox. I was tugging at it, but it wouldn't budge. So I pulled on it ..... REALLY HARD.... and it slid out Fast, my hand got thrown back and disconnected both the MAF and AT sensor pretty harshly. Electric tape fixed it tho.

I used a paragraph when A simple "No" Would've done.........

I had them powercoated. Under normal circumstances, they will hold up pretty good. However, the rims are damaged a bit due to my own fault.

Did you ever have the VB mod done? Not sure if it could affect this but curious if tranny work was ever done before. Have you flushed it recently?

Yes I have the VB mod. I had the flush when the VB was installed.

Everything appears to be normal now. My guess is that I shouldn't have went WOT when the car wasn't fully warmed up. That might be the reason why the car behaved the way it did. I'm not certain if that's the case, but that's my best guess. I pushed it a bit today on the highway, but didn't went all out. Everything seems fine now. So...

I wouldn't go WOT when the engine and tranny aren't warmed up enough. I keep it to no higher than 2500 rpm when its cold.
