Unless you know when it was last changed, change it now.

Change again an 3,750 miles with a good grade dino oil, and filter. Keep it around the same for future intervals.

change every 3-4000 if you use Nissan ester oil, every 4-5000 if you use full synthetic (which has ester oil in it). i change mine about every 4500 miles using Mobil1

Nissan engines are harder on oil, they shear the oil which breaks it down faster, for regular oil 3750 and for synthetic 5000, and synthetic especially if you like to drive more spiritedly, it makes the difference when you approach 40-60k

4,500 miles Mobil1 Fully Synthetic only. I drive almost all highway, but people tend to drive to slow for my liking

Once in a while Advance Auto or AutoZone will have them on sale with a Mobil1 oil filter for 29.99. If you ever see that, buy a years supply of oil. Oil, properly stored, has a shelf life of 1.5-2 years. The sales don't come around often so it is good to buy a few changes if you have the money and the place to store it. The other option is Filters from Advance, they currently have a sale for Mobil1 filters, 2 for $20. Buy 5 of them and use code A123. Makes your order $30. 5 Mobil1 filters for $30 is a steal. Then go to Wally World and buy the oil. 5+quart jug of 5W-30 Mobil1 Full Synthetic is ~$27-28 depending on where you live. Figure a complete oil change for $33+tax and no rebates to deal with as that is what AA and AZ have been doing for the last few months and you have a pretty good deal. The oil price is pretty consistent but the filters aren't. Usually they are $12 each.

I forgot to add, if you really want to see what extended mileage you can do, get a used oil analysis

vr4z06gt
stored oil will outlast you, just keep it sealed, only rule with oil is you can use new oil in old cars but never old oil in new cars, the oil does not really wear out, the additives get used up in the abusive environment of the engine.

and autozone has specials on oil, just check the weekly circular, M1 and a M1 filter usually cost me 35 bucks not on sale like 60

I use Amsoil 0-30w signature series and see a gains in mpg on hwy (28-29), not much in city( 22-23). I worked for NISSAN as a parts rep for the NORTWEST REGION between 1982-1992 and have seen alot of sludge and lack of oil changes, most between NISSANs with timing chain oilers(NX2000,SE-R,Ect...) I would suggest anything longer than 5k is risk taking, no matter what oil you use.

OP, decide what works for you. Choose your oil and oil change interval and stick to it, if you feel comfortable.

I have read far and wide about synthetics and viewed UOA on bobistheoilguy, 350Z forum, and on here. I decided to stick with Mobil 1 EP oil and filter and I drive for 10,000miles before I do my oil change. And my car drives better than day one of ownership. I put 30,000miles a year on my car. So, makes it 3 oil changes a year.

I currently have 5W30 Castrol Titanium Synthetic with a K&N filter in my car for the last 3,000miles and I will drive till I get 10,000miles out of this Castrol before I change it. Then will go back and stick to my Mobil 1 EP till forever, with this my Max. I am currently at 103,000miles and bought car brand new in 08.

I used your tip and got 5 filters for $30 plus tax. I had to drive to 4 different AAP store and I emptied your stock. Well, then went to my last AAP and after some talking I returned one of them and guess what? They gave me the full return price of $13.99, instead of the $6 that the filter cost me after discount and code and I ended up buying this 61pc Emergency Kit that I now have in my trunk for emergencies. Very good kit. I came out making money on this deal. With these many filters, I might change my oil earlier than the 10,000miles that I normally do. Or I will just give one or 2 away to any org member.

Oil change

I use M-1 5W30 and OEM 15208-9E000 filters on the 2007 car and will do the same on the 2012 car after the three dealer freebie dino oil changes run out. Interval 4-5,000 miles.

Same on the Corvette M-1 5W30.....every 5,000 or once a year.

I just changed mine after 5k using M1 EP. This oil is rated for 15k or 1yr. I generally will do 1yr since my milage for the year is usually around 5K . Has anyone used this filter Bosch D3300 Distance Plus High Performance Oil Filter before? http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-D3300-Di...=1GFQV29TCC31Q

The rebate just ran out, which would have made it $5.49 which is not bad.

I'm thinking of trying this on my next oil change. Seems to hold a lot more dirt, which will keep the oil cleaner longer.

EndoT800, the bosch distance filter has some very great reviews for extended drains of up to 5000 miles on bobistheoilguy. So, you should be fine. Go there to find out more info.

Well, I have 4 filters and might just give away one to a needing org member, since I drive for 10,000 miles before changing my oil. That takes me about 3 to 4 months to get to 10,000.

I think the 6thgen and 7thgen use the same kind of oil filter. Correct me if I am wrong.

Planning 5-6k between oil changes using Fram filters and M1. Might slurge on M! or Bosch when they're on sale but for the past 10 years no issues with the Frams and that's with 10k oil changes on my previous Accord.

Yes and no. They figure those numbers for the average person, driving style, conditions.....

If you do a lot of abusive driving, IE stop and go, hard acceleration, **** tons of short trips, lots of cold weather starts, I would do a smaller interval change, maybe 3000-3500 miles.

If you do all highway with no traffic and you just cruise for 60 miles each way to work then you can probably get by just fine on 7500 mile intervals as no real stress is being placed upon the motor and you're not subjecting the oil to as much degradation.

Most people lie somewhere in between giving you the recommended 5000 mile interval.

There is another argument for longevity of the motor. There are some who claim that these higher mileage intervals are designed to NOT allow the motors to go forever as in some older honda, toyota, GM motors (yes old school chevy motors, including EFI, will go damn near forever with simple oil changes and tuneups). The idea being the car won't last on the used market as long, forcing more cars to be purchased new, and putting more money in the companies pockets. I don't know how much truth this there is to this... Oil these days is much more robust and defined than engineers could have dreamed of 20 years ago. Allowing for greater protection over a longer period of time. The engines however have become so much more complex in an attempt to squeeze fuel efficiency and power out of them. I think these complexities are at least partially to blame on the shortened lifespans of some newer motors utilizing the higher mileage intervals.
