take it to Nissan and have them check it immediately. the passenger air bag works through a pressure plate that should only de-activate it when something lighter is in the seat (such as a small child) and should be active when an adult sits there

I seem to remember someone posting back in 2009 that the cutoff weight for the right front passenger airbag is supposed to be around 115 pounds (Nissan does not want the very powerful bag to activate if a small person or child is sitting there). But it seems the cutoff check is not always accurate, and folks weiging a little over 115 do not always pass the 115 pound weight check.

It may be that recent models of the Maxima may have a more refined check and allow the bags to deploy at a reduced force for smaller folks, but I'm not sure of that. The dealer should know.

The girl I'm currently dating is tiny 5'4 115#'s or so and on occasion I've noticed the passenger airbag light turns on when she's in the seat. But it seems to be mainly if she's shifting around/moving... Think I'll mention this to the dealer next time I have to take it in.

Guess that makes since for me, 115# female shifting in the seat could easily drop below 100# Just surprised the sensor reacts so quickly
