Advice to anyone with the Third Gear Crunch / Grind

thought i'd post a thread to hopefully help anyone who has the dreaded third gear grind like I did... mine was pretty damn bad and it is still there but a couple things you can do to vastly improve the grind. one is the diy short throw shifter mod and another is the Energy suspension shifter bushings. These two inexpensive mods almost got rid of my third gear grind, its only there when i shift at high rpms. it makes shifting a lot more tight and fun. this info is scattered throughout posts that i've been searching through on the org but i never came across a post dedicated to this, and i know that if i found this sooner, i would have done these mods waaay earlier, the end result is night and day! hope this helps someone out, since i know im not the only one with that damn 3rd gear crap...

here's a link to the diy sts mod

and heres the link to an awesome write up for the es shifter bushings

along with those two mods, replace your trans oil with MT-85 (I still have yet to do this part) and you will not believe what a difference this will make for your 3rd gear grind.

enjoy!

EDIT: ****, Sorry i put this thread in the general discussion, it should be in the 5th gen section... how do i move it or delete it?
