Does anyone have any experience with these? Good/bad?

How much better are these than stock? I would be running S techs too.

Seems like the group deal on here is really good, all 4 for $295 I believe.

I just installed all 4 this weekend, replacing OEMs. They seem a little stiffer, the ride is great. If you are looking for an installer, djfrestyl is just an awesome guy in East Brunswick, NJ. I bought them from Mike at import replacement parts, all four were $299. Great service and quick delivery.

 

Great struts, but don't get S-techs. If you want a CHANCE to keep your struts from blowing, you need Illuminas for S-Techs.

I've wanted to go to Nilesh for the longest! Just can't find the time to make the trip down there.

I'll probably want to get rid of the S tech overall...I hate the way they ride although they do handle great. Should I just go back to oem with the gr-2s?

I wouldn't recommend them if I didn't...

They're excellent. Great handling and comfortable. Nice subtle drop. Probably the most popular spring for the 5th gen.

Adjustable dampening. GR-2's are seriously not as stiff as everyone makes them out to be. You'll be fine with them an H&R's.

 

I had a 4th gen Maxima 1997 with KYB-GR2s and Eibach Springs on it. It was fine! Had the car until 230K miles and 4 years with that setup and NEVER any problems. Ride was a little stiffer but handled ALOT better than stock. NOW they are not better than coilovers but you will be fine with them just dont put SUPER LOW lowering springs on them because they are not meant for that. The GR2s are basically a stock upgrade that is a bit more stiff and more durable.

Not sure about that. Running GR2s on my 03 i35 with an Eibach pro kit. Struts have been squeeky and noisy since I put in the pro kit. Mechanic says the springs are too short for the struts.

Sent an e-mail to KYB tech support about the situation. Their response was:

unfortunally our struts are only for stock applications and not for lowered or lifted vehicles, if the kit lowers the vehicle more than 1” our part numbers will not work and we would not have a product available

 

Interesting to get KYB's stance.

But - I've seen more than one set of GR-2's run for 75k and more on H&R's/Eibach's without issue.

And I have a feeling KYB is just trying to play the conservative card. Imagine what would happen if they 'approve' their struts on lowering springs...and the influx of warranty repairs for those that can't properly mate springs. Just not a smart business model.

 

I was using them on progress springs for 3 years with ZERO problems. For the money, you cannot go wrong.

 

Looked at the rear suspension this weekend and the shocks had been installed incorrectly. Bumpstops were upsidedown and bushings in wrong order.

Fixed it and car rides much better. Can't believe mechanic missed it.

 

I have GR2 and H-tech for 17k miles now. They feel slightly stiffer than stock but still good ride I think. I ran 350Z 17" staggered wheels on it and never bottomed out. I wish it could be a little stiffer.
