HID vs halogen headlight

What is the diff between the HID headlight and the halogen headlight other than the ballast and HID bulb? Is it the same size and shape? Does it have the same projector lens and shroud?

Thx!

My Maxima S which doesn't come with HID but it came with projectors on the headlights just like a regular Maxima SV would except it comes with HID's. All headlights for Maxima's are the same unless you modify them.

Actually the projectors are different. Because halogen and HID have different lengths for the focal point of the bulb, the projectors have to be different. Usually HID projector bowls are wider then the halogen counterpart. Here are the output differences in a toyota Avalon. Top is a halogen projector with HID bulb in it, and the bottom is HID projector with HID bulb....see a difference?

The halogen projector is fuzzy with a bright hotspot in the center and not a wide beam of light, the HID projector on the other hand evenly distributes the light and the beam is very wide.

They may look the same physically but their designs have to be different. There's no such projector that is designed for both halogens and HIDs.

Proof: The use of different bulbs. D2S bulbs automatically equal HID projectors. Anything else equals halogen projectors.

LOL I dont really care for the difference. As long as I have after-market HIDs Im happy with my car. Besides if I want a wider distribution for my HID's, I can always have Kmoney place different lenses in the summer.

I was just pointing out that there is a difference.

Clear lenses won't really help too much but they will help a little.

All clear lenses will do is give you a sharper, and more colorful cutoff.

Beam intensity and light spread are sometimes increased but it's barely noticeable.

As stated before the headlights are the same exterior wise but the socket where the low beam lights go are different for HID and Halogens. None HID cars have low beam H11 light (just as the foglight bulbs). And HID have D2S socket.

Projectors being different well someone take ur headlights apart and find out... lol
