Maintenance advice prior to end of factory warranty?
Maintenance advice prior to end of factory warranty?
I have a 2010 Maxima SV and I'm about 100 miles from 36k miles, thus ending my factory warranty. I already have a 5yr/100k mile extended warranty on it so I'm fine in that regard.
Even though everything is functioning perfectly on the vehicle (just jinxed myself I'm sure), my question is this:
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is there any maintenance/software updates/anything that I should get serviced before I hit the end of the factory warranty?
While the extended warranty will cover most things, just wanted to check with the community if there is any reason to bring the vehicle in prior to the factory warranty expiration.Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
if ain't broke don't fix it...besides maintenance is not covered under the warranty. Just keep up with what the manual says for the maintenance schedule. If you hear/see/smell/feel (personally I wouldn't taste anything on the car) anything out of the ordinary bring it in to get fixed pronto.
And keep in mind that the most expensive repairs would be if you had major problems with the engine or tranny. The Nissan power train FACTORY warranty on the engine is 5 years, 60K miles, and I believe the CVT tranny on the 2010 Maxima has a 10 year 100K miles Nissan FACTORY warranty.
Quick question. When I bought my car, the dealership said that they wouldn't give free oil changes or nothing like that. I'm wondering, when I'm due for a oil change...do I HAVE to come back to a Nissan dealership to get it done or can I just go somewhere else? I just don't want to do anything to break my warranty.

Unless you do it yourself because you like to, most dealers these days dont charge any more than the major lube places, and its a chance to get friendly with your dealer. They are more likely to be friendly with you if something does go wrong.....

Bingo! This is exactly what I have been doing for almost twenty years. I get Nissan coupons and discounts in the mail for oil changes, etc, which gets me an oil change for around $20 to $24 bucks, but even if I don't have a coupon, the cost is still under $30 at my Nissan dealer. He uses regular Shell oil, not the very expensive oil Nissan is pushing for this 7th gen.
Additionally, he checks out everything on the car, even measuring the depth of tread on each tire. If anything need attention, he finds it and marks it on the checklist, and leaves it up to me as to whether I wish to take any action at that time. My dealer also keeps a complete record of everything that has been done to my car, and can tell me exactly what scheduled maintenance items are due, if any. He/she never pushes anything.
So I know everybody there, and they treat me like royalty when I drive up. While the oil is being changed, I browse through their back lot and check out the vehicles that have just arrived and are not yet on the sales lot. Or grab the official Nissan brochure for whatever vehicle I might be interested in, and spend some time reading it.
I enjoy trips to my dealer.
You guys are far luckier than me. My dealer has one of THE lowest ratings in the Washington, D.C area. I've heard that for every one thing they fix, they "accidentally" break something else that will need fixing in the future. One dude brought his car in and they forget to put the parts back in the car after fixing.
So, I'm not trying to test my luck or nothing. I figured I'm a have to probably bring my car to the dealer in Bethesda as their ratings are better. Just sucks that all the damn dealers in Northern VA suck. But with the demographic here being those of fairly wealthy ppl, they just dont give a **** when it comes up customer service. Rich folks pay to get their car serviced no matter what the price. Not advantageous for regular joe's like myself
