mevi guru needed
Ok so as most of you know i bought a 99 with mevi setup already on it... im throwing 7 codes as of now swirl valves, which wont matter cause i got a 97 engine i jeed to repin my 97 ecu and put it in to eliminate that code and i got heated o2 codes for bank 1 sensors 1 and 2 which i assume are the cali sensors? So those should be eliminated when i swap the ecu as well... but my egr system is throwing a code along with map sensor solenoid code.. now if this was setup correctly i assume my egr and map sensor should work properly??? If not does anyone know how it should look.. i know a few of you know about this,my car will not pass emissions without these... so therefore i need to correct it asap please help me out here mevi gurus
Yea its been on the car since i got it.. plus im pretty much done with performance mods... its my daily driver so i just want to fix it.. if its all together properly id rather replace map solenoid if need be along with egr versus payin for repairs and a 00vi... if i want an 00vi ill do a dek swap...besides 00vi gains arent much more than mevi...
Ahhhh but the MEVI loses to USDM OEM manifold down low and attempts to make up for it up top, sort of like VTEC Hondas. Assuming normally aspirated, you can only really really take advantage of the MEVI if you up the rev limiter.
Myself, I don't quite feel comfortable with the DOHC V6 head spinning over Nissan's rev limit.
With the OOVI, it's gravy all over the power band, top and bottom, and you don't need to up the rev limiter.

Ok i can see that... you do provide a good point there... but the 00vi also needs an rpm switch and its not direct bolt on....i could get all parts for a 00vi swap easily for 100 bucks maybe 125 at my local jy theres like 10 2000-01 maxs sitting there dying to be stripped
didnt say they did...i already got a rpm switch on my mevi...my mevi works flawlessly....
i would just have to find a list of the items needed aside from 5th gen coils and uim...i may be persuaded into doing it and selling my mevi LOL

TL;DR
Please post all of your codes in a list, than you'll get the answers you seek.

With a proper tune the 3Liter VQ can safely spin at Least 7200 RPM, I believe the valves float at something like 7800 Or something though
The swirl valve code is because swirl valves are only on cali spec engines which was stock for 99 however i have a fed spec 97 engine in the car...as for the map sensor its just dangling under the hood chillin but no vac line hooked to it...where does the vac line belong??
All of your issues have absolutely nothing to do with the MEVI. Whoever tinkered with your car before you got your hands on it messed things up. Things may be indirectly tied to the MEVI due to stupidity as a result of doing unnecessary things during the MEVI install, but that's no fault of the MEVI.

I know the Evap stuff is routed differently on the later models.
As many have said, runnging the MEVI without an extended rev limiter is actually killing power in the low end and your not getting the real benefits of the MEVI if you cannot rev past 6500
Now if you were bale to tune, or had a reflashed ecu you could pick up some power that way plus get the extended rev limiter.
As flava stated i got a 99 cali ecu cause my car is a 99 se-l ...running a 97 fed engine... so certain things are done differently... has anyone ever actually posted showing they repinned an ecu ?? I got a 97 ecu but havent installed yet cause im not gonna play with ecu wires in 20 degree weather... when it warms up i plan on it but until then im investigating smaller issues... but if they could all tie into.my ecu i may have to drive the beater for a bit
Sounds like his best bet would to be to find the factory U.S. spec UIM and ditch the MEVI instead of changing out ECU's. That's probably what I would do.
The ECU connector is the same for all 4th gens (96 - 99). The crankshaft sensor is the same for the 97 & 99, same wire colors, same connector, same pinouts. The signal from the crankshaft sensor is on the white wire of the sensor and goes to pin 49 of the ECU.
No, here....
