Good spot for a custom intake?

Good spot for a custom intake?
I want to make a custom intake where the filter goes down into the area shown in the pics below. Do you think that would be a good spot (well it's actually the only spot) to put the filter down in there? Will there be too much heat soak in the summer time? I plan on having the piping go to the left of the battery and down into that space. Kind of where the piping for the stock intake scoop was. Thanks for your input.
