I got one, and it doesnt work right now. If you get one make sure you get a good one. I think it helps tho that way you dont have to drive it when your engine is cold. I believe your not supposed to rev it over 2k when its dead cold? Its also nice to get into a warm car rather than feeling cold air blow on you until the heat kicks in.

I have the remote start. Love it! Use it all the time in the winter and in the summer to start my car. Nothing better then getting into a warm car with the heated seats all toasty on a cold rainy winter day. IT'S SWEET!
The shop that did the install put the trigger off my Nissan remote. Two LOCK impulses from my factory remote activates the remote start.

Not worth it...

I love remote start (my dad's car has it), but the only reason I find against it is a huge one. You have to change your keyless entry remote. If you're used to unlocking the car from 100 yards away (which you can do with the stock one), you're in for a ride. Almost all of them that I see can't go part 20 ft. or so. That is why I would never get remote start.

I had one on my old 96 Max, and I liked it. However, I learned that it isn't good to let your car just sit and run to warm up. It is better for it to be driven to warm up all the parts more evenly. I usually give about 2 or 3 secs with Accessories on, then sit about 20 secs after cranking, then I drive off. But of course you have to keep it below 3k rpms till it gets warmed up.

I sure did have fun confusing the hell out of people though in my old car. I could crank it from a good distance away and roll all four windows down, with the sound system on. After a few confused looks I would shut it off and lock it up with all the windows rolling back up.

collecting dust

I have an Impulse remote starter keyless entry I got off ebay auction, although it is legit, Im hesitant to install it because Im waiting for a response to my thread about if anybody has it on thier max. Reason being, the shop I want to get it done costs a fortune and they can't gauruntee it will work. It does have a 1 year warranty from the seller.

Should I go for it or sell it and get ripped off at the dealer and have one from them garunteed?

Oh it has dual shock sensors on the motherboard and not as seperate modules, which I heard is not as sensitive? I don't really give a hoot about sensitivity cause, I don't want my neighbor's M5 rolling by at night all the time setting it off.

How did you get the windows to roll back up?

impluse starter

Yeah, its pretty good - my dad has one of those impulse starters on his maxima. It worked just great since like march of this year. But the quality of the remote could be a little better. My pops got his friend to program the little "light" button on the stock remote to function as the starter button. I am thinking about getting one for my car, but i think exhaust will be more fun to install first

I have an Avital 6500 which is combo of full security and remote start system. Its awsome..i can turn my car on from bout 1000' so by the time i get to my car i am ready to roll. It also helps in summer as you can have your A/C turned on and step into cold car and this is really helpfull as i have black learhter...i would recommend this to anybody and if you are getting this installed make sure they put this thing where if you open the hood or press on brakes, the car shuts off. after i got mine done, 4 of my other friends got it..good luck

remote starter

i have an avital remote starter also it pretty cool.the only thing that sucks is that the range is terrible. i mean i have to go right next to the car for it to work sometimes.i know there is a devise that supposed to increase the distance of the signal but i dont know if its worth it, especially for $80 bucks installed.

Why not return it. Didn't it have a warranty?

I have a Viper Alarm/Remote Start and its alright. My friend bought the higher model and he can start his car literaly 5 blocks away! Mine works around 30 Feet or if I put it to my chin a bit more. I heard a lot of Max's have problems starting one the first shot in the cold and mine is no exception. If I would buy another one I would either spend the money on the long range one or not get it at all.

remote start is so worth it. i have the clifford AG4 (maybe one of the best alarms on the market) and it came with remote start. i can roll down all the windows, roll down the sunroof and have my stereo crank like nothing else. i can also control my lights and perhaps neons if i get them. i can also do everything in reverse (windows up, sunroof close, ect)

I just got the Delta alarm with remote start and pager. The remote start always works and comes in handy on cold days or anytime u dont feel like sitting and warming up ya car. The distance is ridiculous...... as long as u can see ya car and point to it , it works. The pager is also hella cool, if some ******** bumps into my car or tries to break in , it pages me within 7 secs and tells me someone is messin wit da wip. then i run out wit da box cutter and figure out wth is goin on
Set me back 350 for all of it.

I had one on my 93 SE 5spd. Yes, 5 spd. My buddy warned me before he put it in but I didn't give a s**t.

Sure enough, I started it while it was in gear. The thing started at my girlfriend's parent's garage. I thought I was superman and could stop it if I got in front and pushed on the hood. It didn't like me so it continued to start into my leg while trying to topple her parent's 2 car garage.

Sure enough, my leg prevented my car from being scratched but took out some wood support. Why I didn't break anything is beyond me. Maybe it was the Finaplix.

dood, that sucks major ***. this is probably one of those times i should be happy i have an auto. but clifford's remote start has a prevention mode that requires the car to be in neutral for it to start.
