How is your gas mileage?
I know the official stats are 19/26, but I am on my second tank and the average is still under 19, mixed city and highway.
Give it time?
I like the gearing on the CVT to run at 1800rpm at 60mph, which is better than my V8 engine I drove previously, but you'd think a steady cruise at 1800rpm on a V6 would sip the fuel a little better.
Those of you with more time behind the wheel of this car, please give me your experiences, as I'm only 2 weeks in.

The car is soo much fun to drive, I suspect you may have the issue most other folks have. They just like to press the gas pedal and GO because it does rather nicely. You may not even realize you're doing it either. Have someone ride with you and let them judge. You may be "hitting" it harder than you realize, and it's to be expected since it's still new to you.
yeah unless you keep the car under 2000 RPMs ALL THE TIME (yes ALL the time) you won't see anything close to your expected mileage. if you are in stop-n-go traffic or go above 2000 RPMs expect it to drastically fall. i get 15-19 on my daily commute. if i reset before a highway trip i hit 29-32 so i know its workin. just gotta stay off that gas pedal
With mix I get 22mpg for the last three months. Like other said you need to be easy with the gas peddle
When I first installed my cai it dropped to 17 because I was just loving it too much
Went on a 600 trip got 26 average 76

I am averaging 25mpg right now. Almost exclusively highway, but I do a fair amount of passing and "enjoying" of the roads when they happen to open up....which is never during rush hour. So it can vary significantly depending on how much you want to enjoy the car and your style of driving.
That is about what I get whenever I stray into downtown Atlanta traffic. I get around 23 MPH in inner suburbia, 25 in outer suburbia, 26-27 on highways and 28-30 MPH on open interstate trips. Those are excellent numbers for a car that weighs over 3600 pounds and has a 290 HP engine.
All I have is tint on windows and tails so far. Nothing performance wise or wheels. For what it is worth, I had an '09 SV sport before this one and I averaged the same mileage for the driving I do. Nothing but tint on that as well.
I avg 25-26mpg avg each tank right now with the 30-40 degree weather here in NJ; this is using 93 octane gas; in the spring and fall, when the temp is just right, I get 27-28mpg per tank on 93 octane
I have to say, I'm pretty happy with these numbers, though I wish Nissan could have had the Maxima with regular gas rather than premium; hopefully the 8th Gen they will make this correction and improve the EPA rating even higher; I'd like to see 21/30 or 22/32 on the Maxima.

Just this morning I decided to reset it and see what my work commute would average and this is all back roads here in PA and it was 25.4MPG. Main thing is how hard you are on the gas of course this morning there were some cars in front of me so I couldn't really open it up.
Your speed makes a HUGE difference on highway driving. With consistent 65-70mph (remember the SINGLE MOST fuel economic speed you can drive in any vehicle is 50-55mph), and not stomping the go-pedal, your mileage will be much better. 75mph and over, and fuel mileage drops exponentially. But yeah...easy highway driving (not using cruise) I will see 27-30mpg.
City...not so good. 20-24 I guess.

I recently changed jobs and my morning commute is now all highway, opposite direction of rush hour. With tons of coasting at around 60mph (I see about 3 cops shooting lasers each way) I've been getting about 24mpg. When I drive around locally, it seems like my needle is at empty everytime i look at it. Im probably getting 10mpg
I've only had my 2012 Maxima for a few weeks, and I love driving it...so fun!
I'm still getting used to the fast acceleration, however, I was curious if anyone knows which mode gets better gas mileage, D or Ds? I like how Ds rides but I'm afraid the gas mileage might be worse.

Sound good to me!
I have a 99 Maxima and we are currently looking into the upgrade to about this year. The 99 I have now is running me about 16-17mpg. Yikes!
I recently rented a 4cyl Altima though. I know they don't compare to the Maxi's, but if they could only Frankenstein them together....

Looks like Im getting about the same here. I average 20.5 usually mixed highway city driving in northern cali. Cant say im always easy on the pedal.(sometimes you have to flex the maxi's power) This is my second 7gen with the same results
