Showed a sign post who's boss
Showed a sign post who's boss
So Friday, I'm on my way to this girls house after work. It had pretty much stopped snowing, but it was very windy and getting colder. I noticed up ahead the road was covered in snow but people had been driving through it, no big deal, this happens all the time. That's about when I noticed a van in the ditch ahead. No big deal either, but I coasted down from 50 to about 40 by the time I get next to them. Then I felt my car lean to the right from a large gust of wind. I'll be damned if I didn't blown right off the road. Barely missed the guard-rail, but took out a sign on my way. Luckily it only crunched the right front fender and missed my hood and headlight. Should be easy fix.
I guess that black bumper cover I pulled 2 years ago will finally find a home.

Looks like the sign shows you who was boss.
Coulda been worse. I went off in a spot almost exactly like that, except there were trees AND signposts. took me about $4k to fix mine since it took out the bumper, hood, fender, headlight, control arm, knuckle, tie rod, strut, axle, blah blah lbah.
coulda been worse. glad that's all you had.

OP, glad you're not that bad off. Try to find a fender in the same color too. It might save you a few bucks.

OP, as everybody else has said, easy fix. If you're not in too much of a rush, go to your local jy and ask about sale days. A fender and bumper over here cost around $40 for both. The hard part, I'll admit, is finding it in your color, though you're what, emerald green? Often sometimes a common color.
Good luck anyhow!

There's a place near me in Naperville asking 66, but to be painted is an extra 150 so I might just keep looking at more junkyards.
Haha thanks guys. Not green, it's black, and I already have a bumper that I bought and never put on my old Max. I went to 2 junkyards today but only found white and grey, the rest were damaged.

Edit: I looked on car-part, and there is a black right fender off a '98 at this place: Mack's Auto Recyclers, Inc. USA-IL(Urbana) 1-800-252-9148. The part grade is 000, which is supposed to mean perfect.

Well, if you're looking at $66 + $150 to get one painted, you could probably get one that is in good shape and the correct color for less and have it shipped. Try http://car-part.com/ .
