I have a 2011 SV and it has a high pitched whistle when it is at idle! If I give it gas it goes away, but when it goes back to idle it comes back! The car only has 7100kms on it and it has been there since I got it brand new! Anyone have the same problem or is it normal!

I've got the same thing with my 09 Maxima. When you first start the car, there's no whistle but after it's warmed up, then it will whistle at idle. If you press the gas just a little the whistle will go away.

Hope someone has an answer.

 

I took my 09 Maxima to the dealer today for TPMS reset and they said the whistle was the Throttle Body Motor (I think!) and it is covered under the powertrain warranty. I asked about the cost if not covered and he said about $700. The part is on order and I should get this installed next week. I will post an update afterwards.

Ok, dealer replaced the throttle body motor but said the whistle is still there, and it is! They said the noise appears to be coming from the intake or plenum soooo..... they are replacing that part next. I take the car in for this service tomorrow. Will post a followup afterwards.

 

any news bout this issue? I have a 2012 SV that just have 250 Kilometers that is producing this high pitched sound?

 

I am thinking it's the air filter housing!! It does not fit snug on my 2011!! Anyone else!!
