5.5 Gen Keyless Remote advice

Hello,

The keyless entry remote for my Maxima works intermittently, I replaced the battery but its still the same. I was wondering if there was some sort of sensor I can check inside the car? or is it just time to get a new remote?

Thanks for the help

There are no sensors in the car that you can easily test without sophisticated test equipment. Many times the little switches under the buttons in the remote get full of junk from being in your pocket. Open up the remote and take out the little printed circuit board and look. Rubbing alcohol is a good cleaner. And then maybe you may need a new remote. Those switches do go bad.

99% chance its the remote and not your car. If you don't have backup and the cleaning doesn't work then you can get a new one programmed at the dealer.

You don't need to have the dealer program a remote. you can do it yourself. The directions have been posted here many times.

It may be the gunk under the remote, I'll try cleaning it because if i sit there and press it a few times it'll work. If not then time for a new remote :/

Mr. Remote is where I got mine. Can't rember how much, (but it had to be inexpensive), and look up the programming procedure. Then you'll have a spare if you can clean/fix the one you have now.

I've seen some on local craigslist for about $25. But I cleaned mine up and it works fine now!
