Stock Exhaust Question

Hello,

I currently have an OBX catback on my 98 maxima and would like to quiet it down. If I get a stock muffler or something similar like a Walker muffler would that be sufficient or would I need to replace the whole cat back and remove the aftermarket resonators too in order to get it sounding completely stock again?

Thanks in advance!

The resonators should be quieting your exhaust so I would not remove those. I ended up with a walker Quietflow muffler for my Infiniti. It doesn't sound stock but its still pretty quiet and much quieter than other 3 mufflers I tried (Magnaflow straight through, turbo and a generic stock muffler from an exhaust shop)

Thanks in advance![/quote If you're gonna run a 14" Magnaflow Street Series muffler you'll need a 6" Round (Resonator) muffler to keep it quiet! If you choose to run something less expensive I would suggest Magnaflow 5"x11"x22" muffler or their 5"x8"x18" muffler with a 4" round x 22" long (resonator) muffler! I've have a zero drone 2.5" mandrel bent setup on my 3rd Gen using a 18"x 4" round muffler with the 5"x11"x22" muffler(Zero drone @ all speeds)....purchase thru Amazon and save alot of $$$.....GL

Just get a stock style muffler. It should be good enough.

Yeah stock muffler are awesome they just seem to rot out in the snowbelts....Magnaflow is T304 SS it'll be there longer than you own your car stock won't! Do it once and be done with it....or you can do it again and again! Your choice.....

if u want performance and NO SOUND, then get the dynomax super turbo street version. Stock quiet with high flow up top.
