Pop Charger and Touchless Carwash

Last time I was at a high pressure touchless car wash, a bit of water somehow got under the hood and I found the popcharger to be a bit damp on the shiny chrome part and there might of been a bit of water on the filter element itself. Does anyone know if that little bit of watter will harm the engine?

yeah, shouldn't be a problem....but I would investigate how water got on it because if you are driving on the highway long distance in rain, and rain finds it's way the same way the sprayer did, then it could pose some problems..

How would water get all the way up there? There seems to be a whole lot of metal beneath the filter element. Unless you drive through some really deep water or get some crazy lateral splashing.

BTW Str8ridin that quote in your sig is awesome. That movie has got to be an all-time great.

Regards,
TOM

Oh, the water just comes in from the sie of the hood, there is no rubber strip on the side of the hood on maxima's. When it rains (even if it is very hard) no water goes into the engine bay, the only reason that the water entered the engine bay was that the high pressure water jet was horizontally placed and managed to spary a few drops of water into the engine compartment.

Nothing to worry about. When I finish washing my car, there is a little water on the chrome end of my JWT cone. It never concerned me.

the filter is fine. Im more worried about the battery. When mine gets wet, light blue foamy crapp starts to grow out of the pos. terminal

So If you get an intake you have to cover it up with a bag along with the battery and altenator when washing the engine?

OH well, at least theres more power, I think

If he (or anyone) is, stop doing this. Your engine isn't meant to get wet, especially not sprayed by a hose. There's a lot of wiring that you can really screw up doing that. If you want to clean your engine use an air compressor for loose dirt, and a damp rag for anything else.

Actually, the connectors are generally weatherproof. You can hose down the engine compartment and not damage anything, provided you cover the alternator, battery, and intake (if you have a cone). I've used that foamy engine brite spray on my engine and hosed it down and never have had any problems. I wouldn't go hosing down the engine every week, but once in a while (like once a year maybe) is okay.
