Question on Stock Radio in 9-12 Maximas

Whats good folks,

I just picked up a 09 Navy Blue Metalic SV (Cafe Leather interior) with 44k miles on it. Car is spotless. Can't drive it official till it passes MSI (will pick up 2morrow). Got to test drive it from Springfiled VA dealer to Waldorf dealer and put it thru its paces (fam member is a car dealer in Waldorf).

Gonna get the stock spoiler installed but I would like some help with the stock radio (no nav-doesnt even have XM).

I'm not really feeling it, but what are my replacement options?

Find a OEM Nav system or get something else from a retailer.

The sv should have xm, just hit the aux button.

Ahh. Didn't push the aux button during the test drive on the test drive. Will give it a go 2morrow. Any good tips on upgrades in dash models or is the stock nav an option?

Although the screen is a direct replacement, all the wiring is diffrent so it wouldnt be possible to swap unless you want to rewire most of the car.

Aftermarkets are your only choice but you will have the top screen that is uses less. Those are our only options so far.

The color screen will work in a orange screen car?

The color screen wont work because the HVAC controls are apart of the AMBER screen. On color screens, the HVAC are on the bottom by the radio.

You can gut a Premium or tec package Maxima and fit the parts into an Amber screen model but the wiring is way off and is to far intergraded into other parts of the car.

This is what I did with my stock radio...TRASH IT and put in this baby:

The Pioneer Avic X930BT, bought it for $640 and it worth every pennies! Does everything the SV tech package does ...bluetooth, gps, dvd, mpeg4, mp3, full ipod/iphone integration, usb, backup cameras, 3 video/audio outputs for rear videos and so much more. Love this unit!

ill testify to the SV with standard XM. This is standard, according to my Monroney sticker, on my 2010 SV, I have the premium package but not SAT NAV package, and it is listed BEFORE the premium package on the sticker.

Easy way to tell, do you have the classic 'nub' on the rear of the hood? If you do, factory satellite radio, if not then you don't.

I got the car home today and no sat.... No nub on the hood...

My dad works at the dealer so Im gonna talk to some of the mechs to see if there is anyway to put a stock nav in without being bent over. See if I can find one at a junk yard. If not that Pioneer looks nice and I like the price

Aren't they expensive? Composite for a contour surface and small surface area are usually really costly.

You may be able to get a upac and keep the stock radio, but have both an iPod interface and satellite radio...

if you use REAL CF, it will be pricey, but if you use Vinyl, its a few bucks on ebay. No one will know, plus you can "CF" more parts of the car.

Nice job man... You know what would be cool, if somebody is brave enough to put the amber screen where the radio used to be and the after-market screen where the amber screen used to be. That hasn't been done yet..
