Just got a 99 Infiniti i30 (Glorified Maxima), and the key wont even turn the security light flashes and beeps. the kid i got the car from didnt have the clicker.
Also the trunk leaks was wondering if any one else has had that problem?

 

I need you to clarify something for me. When you have the key in the ignition and you turn it, is the red security light blinking?

9 times out of 10, a trunk leak is coming through the tail light mounting holes. The putty (or whatever it is) isn't doing its job. Almost guaranteed if someone has removed the tail lights and didn't use new putty.

 

if the key doesn't turn, probably a bad ignition switch. You said you just bought the car...did you take it for a test drive?

If the security light is ON, you have been immobilized. If it's flashing, youre ok.

 

took it for a test drive and i have driven it a few times since buying it. i know on some american cars you can un hook the battery and it will reset the system just didnt have time today thanks for the replys. ps its only blinking it isnt stuck on.
