Maxima at Texas Mile
I participated at the Texas Mile and was very happy to see a Maxima playing. David does not post in the .org, but I figured I would share his runs.
Its a 5th gen maxima (VQ35) GLE running with a few bolt-ons, including CAI,y-pipe. His best run was 135.6mph at the full mile.
Check out his videos on YouTube: (long and unedited)
I ran my srt-10 Viper. Check out my vid if you guys are interested.

My 96 GXE was governed at 117. I then installed a single-pole / single-throw switch of the VSS to remove it :-).
Then the came the JWT ECU which completely eliminated the need for the switch.
Anyway, I never knew that the newer Gens were governed.

governors are easy to disable.
on 240SX, disconnect the 4th and 5th gear indicator wires and VSS going to the ECU. the ECU doesn't need to know any of that stuff for any other function other than to govern the car.
If the ECU sees the car in 4th gear, it speed limits at 6500rpm (~120mph), and if it's in 5th, it limits at 120mph. thus you snip all three wires and the car goes until it runs out of power or rpm in 5th.
Maxima is probably the same way, although I don't know if it looks at gear position as well as speed like the 240...
anyway... 135 on open road isn't that hard (although many of you will be dismayed to find out your speedo was lying and you were probably only going about 115-120. the speedos in our cars get VERY enthusiastic above 90mph. confirmed by GPS in about 8 different Nissans/Infinitis that all of them are accurate up to about 75mph, then exaggerate speed above that. i.e. 120mph indicated is only about 105-110 actual.)
back to the point.. 135mph on open road isn't hard. 135 within a mile? not easy.

Well, to put in perspective, a stock viper powered SRT Ram was only running 138mph that day. Aerodynamics are playing a crucial role.
According to results, Maxima was doing 116 at the 1/2 mark, and 135mph at the full mile.
