testpipe
I agree with Jeff. But I'm one to speak since i have a 3" catback and a 2.5" testpipe. But the 2.5" testpipe did net me more hp than a 2.75" HFC.
I saw a fair gain with mine, but I have quite a few mods to support it.
240SX units seem to fit, Budget exhaust test pipes also do.
When searching for a unit, make sure the flanges are either adjustable, or are specific to the 240sx/Maxima, and the unit itself is 12" long.
The Megan is too long, so steer clear from that one.

So the 240sx testpipes are 100% fully bolt on, and they're 3"!!?? SCORE!!! Stupid Megan was too long, when i bought it for my 5.5 and i had to have it shortened. -_- which in total cost me about $100 and change, part and labor.
OWNED...and is this Action posting? lol
Damn, I need something to replace the stock cat to go in between my cattman y and eBay crap back. I just think a test pipe is gonna be too loud for daily driving. Besides the cattman, what other 2.5" HFC's are ppl running?
Maurice, did you get the test pipe. If so which size 3 or 2.5 inch. Im in the need for a resonated one. Just got my new exhaust on last week..stock manifolds, gutted cats, test pipe, 15 inch res to super 40 flowmaster. The piping is 2.5 inch and the sound is nice but just a little high in the Db area. Not to bad but want to bring it down just a hair. I had the cat converter in place of the test pipe and way to quiet. So im trying to see if removing the test pipe and adding a resonated one will help out but adding a 3inch resonated to to a 2.5 inch exhaust...? not sure how that would work. Do you guys think adding the 3inch resonated to a 2.5 inch exhaust would make any difference in any way ..reducing or increasing volume?
But, there are the regulars, magnaflow, and a few others and of course the are the universals.
I used this, although it's not a cat, it worked really well for sound/rasp control.

Hey, would this test pipe work on a Cali spec VQ30? Won't the output of the 3" affect flow into the stock B-pipe, like unevenness? I am trying to replace my cat and i have ordered my warpspeed Y Thanks
FWIW, the cattman (fastcat) is 2.75".

take the stock one off n gut it lol... to be honest, most of the power gains would be if you change from Y-pipe to headers... you have all exhaust replacements n somehow you kept every single OEM catalytic converter in the process lol... gutting those 3 cats will probably net you more gains than all those performance parts combined
