Waxing Done....Love That Black!

After 5 hours of waxing with 2 different types of Maguire's wax, I realize why I'm glad to be back in a black car!

Getting mine proffesionally detailed for the first time Thursday. Wife got it for my birthday. Does it make a huge difference over normal weekend wash and wax? Are the chemicals they use superior and more powerful? I'm looking to get rid of the swirls and clear coat scratches. Will my car look brand new again minus the common chips in the bumper?

yes a full detail will be much better if done correctly

yes chemicals will be more commercial and specific to the task needed

depends on level for the detail there are some one step corrections that will remove some then there is 2 step which will remove all but the deep stuff

being as u r black he will probly do a 2 step unless the package is for wash and wax

That is what I had done. I just had a single step done. They did a few test spots with different pads and products. He found the right combo so he could do a single pass and not take much off. End result was stunning. I paid 300 bucks for this. Which I felt was cheep. He was there from 7:30 to 3 ish if I remember right. He worked the whole time.

Now make sure you get a good paint sealant. A normal wax, that you get at any store really will only protect for 4-8 weeks. Or you can just apply that often. Also get some good quality micro fiber drying towels. This is where I went wrong. I used bath towels. Even if they are 100% cotton, that usually only means the fiber itself and not the backing, the part that holds it together. That is what caused the micro swirls in my paint.

Get a good car wash soap too and a good microfiber wash mit. Check out these sites. Im not a member on either one... yet. but they are super helpful. Great tips on what to do and how to do it the right way.

I think it was autogeek that I ordered my nice drying towels and buffing towels from.

I just did my 2012 black maxima with nothing but maguiars. I used the ultimate line they have and I am extremely pleased. I used the ULTIMATE POLISH, then followed that with the ULTIMATE LIQUID WAX. I also used the ULTIMATE COMPOUND on some factory blimishes and she is slicker than a baby's butt and I watched a fly land on it with tennis shoes and he busted his *** hard. Fell all the way to the floor. Awesome choice but with meguiars you could have done it your self in the same amount of time and saved 300 dollars. Unless you just didn't have the time then 300 for a full detail is still not a bad price. And these are from a crappy iphone 3.
HOOD REFLECTION - you can count the specs on the ceiling next to the light reflection.

yeah for me it is. They tried to sell me the zylon coating crap from the dealer but I opted not to do it. Meguiar's was is just as good if not better. Especially the ULTIMATE line. Poured the rain yesterday morning and had to drive in it on the way home. turned the water hose on sprayed it off and wiped it down. Not a water spot one or scratch to be found. I have loved meguires for 20+ years now and have used it on several custom cars and had nothing but awesome results from them.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Any company whose owner hosts a TV show called Car Crazy, gets my business. Thanks for the kind words.

He says it can rejuvenate paint thats in poor shape too.
Know someone who's seen his car.
