Can we adjust line pressure in the auto transmission?
Can we adjust line pressure in the auto transmission?
so my car is really having a hard time shifting 1-2 and 3-4 so I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the pressures in the RE4F04v auto transmission???
Not that I can recall. Hard time shifting through fwd gears? Well they are called autotragics on here for a reason. Check your fluid level. When was the last time the fluid was changed along with the filter? Best of luck man. This is why when I was looking for my car I was looking for 5spd only.

I believe slushbox is a better term lol.. everything was change last year. just was hoping there was an easier way to help then getting a shift kit put in
Line pressure is not adjustable. The Pressure regulator valve modifies line pressure to meet certain conditions. What do you mean by hard time shifting - hard shift or a big delay in between? Does it happen only in cold, hot, or both fluid temperature? ATF should be drained and refilled every 2 yrs and it's fairly cheap to do it.

long delay between 1-2 and 3-4 but it does it randomly. some times warm some times cold and sometimes it will shift fine the say I stop and shut the car off for maybe 5 min and fire it back up and the shifts will be long again
I change my atf every year just been working a lot lately only about a month over what I normally change it at

Do a stall test and pressure test in your tranny. These are the most conclusive tests that you can do to determine the condition of the transmission.
Have you done like a flush or fluid exchange in your tranny? If yes, you might have the teflon seals hardened. Cold teflon is relatively harder compared when it has been heated by ATF. Which means, if the seals are cold and hard, fluid just passes thru its sides.

Yup. A stall test can be dangerous for you and the transmission BUT it is a very good test. A pressure test is almost the same with compression testing but just in the transmission. There are 2 pressure taps in our trans (for D (1,2,3,o/d) and R.
well for the stall i get almost dead on 2100rpm but I dont have a gauge to test my pressure
