oil leak in the rear of the car????? wtf?

i noticed a leak infront of the rear wheel (driver side). i was thinking its a gas leak, then i scooped some with my finger and it was brown... oil...

how the ****??? when does motor oil get transfered to the rear of the car??? its coming from the boxy indent behind the driverside rear passenger seat, infront of the rear wheel. and i can see something else lightly leaking from some lines... (fuel this time???). no... oil!

how is this possible?

That's the evap system. The box stores fuel vapors. It's possible it's contaminated with moisture and the result is the brown petroleum your seeing. Is your cel on and is there a code for the evap system?

It could be that his canister is out of charcoal, hence, not absorbing the vapors anymore. That would cause him to start leaking gas from there, correct?

It could also be the rear strut leaking oil. But neither the strut or the EVAP canister are in front of the wheel. The EVAP canister is behind the wheel and the strut is along side the wheel.

how about rear trailing arm bushings; aren't ours fluid filled? the rta bushing sits ~ a foot+ in front of the front edge of the rear tires.
