Front speakers

Hi everyone. My front two speakers keep shorting out. They play for a minute then they go out for a min then they will play again. They both stop working at the same time. I have a old alpine headunit in there. Andbthey are not the Bose speakers they are the stock version. Thanks

replace them and the old head unit.

U may have a short somewhere, but both speakers have independent wire leads from the head unit. The only common part to both speakers is the head unit. replace the head unit and check wiring.

Pull the head unit and check at the connection point to see if there is a poor connection. Also, are you sure it's just the front and not all four speakers? Double check the power connection (hot and ground as well as ignition) where it's wired into the harness for the radio and make sure that you have a solid connection. If it all looks good, then as recommended, change the head unit.

Thanks everyone. I checked all the connections and made sure they were all secure. Same thing keeps happening and it's just the fronts the backs never cut out. I have a headunit I know that works iam gonna connect it and let you guys know how I make out. Thanks again

Unplug the harness from the back of the radio. Do a continuity check from each speaker lead to ground to confirm nothing is shorted to ground. If you're still running stock speakers, it's very unlikely. Although I've never heard of an Alpine H/U internal amp going fritzy, it's entirely possible and very common in cheaper older radios. If you really don't want to splurge on a new radio, I would bench test it with a battery and speakers to isolate all variables. But assuming nothing is shorted, all wiring is secure and correct, I'd pretty quickly blame the radio itself.

My stock stereo did the same thing. I replaced the HU and it all went away. I then changed the speakers and everything is crispy. Still running off stock wire. My vote is the HU. As everyone else has advised.
