Brake Upgrades....?

I have been looking at all the different brake upgrades for the maxima. I have seen one with a q45 caliper but you have to use a mazda rotor and modify that. Does any one know if you could use a Q45 caliper and an altima ser rotor with no modification?

I'm not sure about using an Altima SER rotor. You can also use the 300zx calipers.

A BBK is always an option if you have the money.

^^^ this.

Brembo FTW if u got the cash.

IMO, its not really worth it especially on a used car. U wd be better served to get some good pads (duralast golds or Cmax) and new rotors.

well I know about the z32 conversions. but i was just wanting something to slow this heavy thing down a little better its a 95 so its age is also working against it lol. I have a bbk setup I designed for my 240sx on it right now running skyline calipers, special adapters, and a 13"+ audi s4 rotor with stainless lines. I love it but since the maxypad is my DD I am just in the market for a something a little better than the stock.

I would just go z32. You don't need an adaptor unless you want different rotors but you will probably need some 5mm pacers. An adaptor is easier though so you dont have to mill the rotors when you get new ones. I have the z32 now although they arent installed yet

Also w the millenia rotor u dont need to mill it.....thats if u use the q45 rotor i believe u have to mill 8mm off outside diameter.

you usually wont find the good z32 stuff at the yard. Just too valuable and they employees usually take it first. Especially the calipers and MAF because those are popular on so many applications

i got my info here

http://forums.nicoclub.com/q45-j30-b...l-t456994.html

anywho, i got junkyard calipers because i will b rebuilding them myself...they were 30 for both from the yard and 25 for both rebuild kits....thats almost the price of one rebuilt from autozone.....plus its something i can say i know how to do now......

you might disregard what i said about the millenia rotors unless someone else can verify....in looking back i may have gotten it off the 3rd gen pages without realizing it....sorry for the confusion.

Does anyone have a website that would have a mass directory of rotor sizes? lol Just found the specs on the altima ser rotors they are 1" bigger in diameter than the q45s.

I am willing to answer any questions not answered in that thread. Yes, it was a 3rd gen but should (?) mount up to a 4th gen just the same.

The only items needed other than pads, calipers, and rotors are four 2mm thick washers.

You want cheap? Get Hawk HPS pads and some Brembo Blank rotors (ss lines are optional). Then invest in really good tires (not cheap). I bet your tires are more of a limiting reagent than your brakes.

This is true. Tires have a lot to do with braking performance. But its hard to beat some sick looking calipers over some slotted rotors inside some BBS or TSW wheels....

Screw modding rotors, pads, or calipers. If you are dead set on larger rotors just get a 5.5 gen or 6th gen setup. All you need to do is drill out the 2 bolt holes on the knuckle/spindle.

Best advice in this thread! The Hawk pads stop really nice.

Any one try the millenia rotors I just picked up a set of q45 fronts and was curious do you still have shave a little off the control arm and bottom of brakes to make the setup work or will it just bolt on without issues ?!?

Thanks in advance guys
