Aftermarket HU or Stock Bose Amp?

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE with the Bose Amp in the back still powering my speakers. I have an aftermarket HU that states it has (17 watts RMS CEA-2006/52 peak x 4 channels). Would the aftermarket HU or Stock Bose Amp be better to power the speakers? To me, it just doesn't seem that loud.

If the head unit would be better, can I just cut the speaker cords running to the amp and connect them with the speaker wires going to the speakers?

Thanks in advance.
