lost 3 seconds on 0-60

I have just been given a 4th gen SE. Ive heard many good things about these cars and I am looking forward to seeing how far i can take it. But my first issue with this thing is that it seems to have lost about 3 seconds on its 0-60. i read on nissan forums these were rated at least at 6.8 today after three runs the quickest it ran was a 9.62. it is an auto with 239k on it so im sure that has something to do with it but that cant be all. theres no smoke no bad smells no leaks. it just seems weak like a race horse with a sponge in its nose. ive already done all the necessary tune up things. only reason im concerned about this is im already considering the vq35 swap, im just wondering if that will HAVE to be done sooner or later. one more thing does anyone know how to get rid of this annoying bouncing rear ive already changed struts but it keeps bouncing like a fat hooker on a pole. all help is appreciated and oh yeah hi all.

oil, oil filter, plugs, trans fluid, air filter, fuel filter, tranny filter, ran lucas fuel system cleaner through it. even though they are not tune up parts. ive changed the cv axles outer tie rod ends and sway bar bushings but i still cant get rid of the sloppy steering and my alignment is slipping away to the left. but i guess those bushings in the steeribg linkage or whatever need to be replaced. sorry got long winded. i may have missed some tune -up aparts.

Check for codes. A bad KS will cause the ECU to hold at base timing, but it wont trigger the CEL.

For spark plugs, use ONLY NGK's. (I personally have ngk iridium IX [BKR5EIX-11]) and I love them. Go to your local auto zone or parts store and pick up *** air flow sensor cleaner" and clean your maf. That should help a little.

And also this. I forgot about the ks. When it retards timing it affects performance and gas mileage.

Must've been platinum plugs.

1st, part of maintenance is checking the check engine light for codes lol 2nd, for 0-60 on this car is 7.1 secs (5spd manual) road&track 50th anniversary. auto 4spd i'm guessing would be in the 8 sec area. KS kills gas mileage and makes the engine sluggish, if this is the case, replace it and then get a y pipe ... biggest bolt on power adder and wakes up the car 2-5.5k rpm. you could also try for the auto shift mod for harder/quicker shifts, its in the how to's i believe.

finally got around to the codeps. knock sensor came up twice, the evaporation emission system and the cat. im running a straight pipe where the cat my uncle got lazy and did that instead of getting a new one. thats gonna be a pain when i get an aftermarket exhaust system.

it is the manuals that were rated as fast as 6.6 second 0-60, back when they were brand new. a brand new auto is probably more like in the 7.5-8.0 second range, maybe even slower if it's a later year 4th gen which is heavier than the earlier ones. with 240k on the clock, it's probably going to be slower, even with your tune up (and it's probably not too far off base to assume that since you are still new to the car you aren't getting the optimal launch simply because you haven't had the practice of testing out how hard to brake torque it, flash the converter, etc).

with regard to the steering sloppiness, you probably need new control arm bushings. it's easier to just replace the control arms though.

I went thru the same exact thing with my friend' 99 I30. Tuned up everything yet still acting funny. He needed a knock sensor but I let that alone for a while because I was going to do his EGR later.

Change your front O2 sensor only.

You are welcome
