Has this happened to any of the dropped max's out there? Or did i just get a defective radiator support? Ive had the support put on for about 3 months now.

wow! was it a nissan lower support? that looks like a cheaper aftermarket one and doesnt even appear to be strong enough to hold up the necessary weight with such thin metal. If the shop you had perform the work provided the support I'd take it back asap.

I don't know much about welding but I doubt thats enough metal to weld. I've purchased lots of parts from rockauto but I wouldn't dare get that cheap radiator support they have up there. go to nissanpartsasap.com and get a quality lower support. I think I about 130 for mine and shipping was only 12 bucks.

Tried to warn people many times about this aftermarket support because it doesn't have the extra metal support.

if you can unbolt the part that snapped off, then yes you should be able to weld it back on and itll probably be way too strong in that one part now and itll just break again around the weld.

Ignore all other advice and get an OEM support.

Hi, I'm in similar situation, but mine radiator support is origina and completaly rusted. My engine is hanging like yours. Can I replace it by myself w/o welding anything? Is it only bolted to car frame?

Nah you def have to do some welding whether it's only the best lower part or the whole thing... No way around that

No the lower support isn't bolted, it's spot welded in. It has to be cut out and a new one rewelded into place. Make sure you get a Nissan OEM one.

what? no. i was just saying that the broken off metal COULD be welded back on. im just saying its physically possible. dont do it though. replace the cheap crap tinfoil thin reinforcement you have on there with quality OEM high strength steel.

pretty sure its both bolted and spot welded, with the welds being the most important of the two

a guy on here simply bolted his on and has had no issues, there's a thread about it, but i'd definitely weld it anyway.

Shame our cars were designed like this....I wasn't even aware and when people started to have issues around 2006, I turned the radio up and ignored it. had to address it in 2011 as yes, mine separated as well!
