Bump

Can I have some feedback from us 6th gen guys? My car may have been painted towards the rear from the dealer I bought it at. I notice some orange peel effect that I need to wetsand out. I wonder if it had faded with the previous owner.

 

why didn't you start a new thread? this is 9 years old and not even sure why they asked about a 1 month old car...

they all have orange peel.

 

I'm glad somebody brought up the subject of paint, I need to clay mine or something because I was washing it waxing it and then a week later the paint feels rough.

 

Because this thread is about the exact same thing. If you care so much start a new thread yourself. I'm just asking a question.

 

Welcome to the inherent catch-22 nature of these boards. Make a new thread asking a question, and at least one of your replies will be: "SEARCH!"

Perform said search, and bump an old thread to follow up with a similar question, and you will get yelled at for bumping the thread. Guess you just can't win.

Don't really notice much orange peel by the rear of my '05. I do have the usual dings and scratches that accompany a 7 year old vehicle, however.

 

You can see many of the threads I started at the top including the rules for this forum. And it's not the exact same thing. You have a 5 year old car asking if the dealer painted it. How would anyone know? They asked about a car that had just been released within a month, not even yet in most places. Oh yeah, you're right it is the exact same thing.

That was my thought process too. Reguardless of age Nismomax, its still about paint quality. I might have very slight clearcoat ships that look similiar to water spots on the top of my trunk, so I want everyone's opinion...

I know with the Sentra, they all had horrible oxidation and fading no matter what you did. You couldn't save it. I think nissan realized that their clear coat sucked and made the adjustment in '04. So it was my understanding that every car from 04 and up shouldnt have oxidation as long as it was taken care of.

 

Only problem I have seen are the fake chrome strips hazing and how easily the car paint chips. I try to machine polish the car at least once a year. But I don't polish as often as I'd like. those are the best way to preserve any paint good or bad quality.
