Gas cap not clicking when tighten?

Every car I've owned has clicked when tightening the fuel cap. It even keeps clicking and turning once tightened. The maxima tightens but no click. And when it's tight, it doesn't keep turning like my other cars. Is your car the same?

It should click once it seals after turning. Take it back to the dealer and get it changed out, it's technically considered part of the vehicles emisson system.

gas cap click

My 2012 acts just like your, it tightens but no clicks. I will ask the dealer about this next time I bring it in.

PS Per the Owner's manual if your gas cap is not secured the car will indicate a trouble alarm display. Since we are not getting the indication it means that even W/O the click the gas cap works.

My 2012 Maxima gas cap is just like the gas cap on my 2010 Lexus IS. When tighten it, it will make one faint click when it is fully tightened. It does not and is not suppose to work like how gas caps worked in the past.

I'm pretty sure my 2012 used to click when tightening once because For the first time I noticed this while filling up today and then read the label that said it should click once. Funny you posted this today

No there's nothing wrong with it. They don't click anymore. The same thing happens on my 2011 4Runner. Just turn it till you feel it tighten and click.

LOL...It's amazing what you read here and what people think is right.

Directly from the 2012 owners manual:

To remove the fuel-filler cap:
1. Turn the fuel-filler cap counterclockwise to
remove.

2. Put the fuel-filler cap on the cap holder
1

while refueling.
To install the fuel-filler cap:
1. Insert the fuel-filler cap straight into the fuelfiller
tube.
2. Turn the fuel-filler cap clockwise until a

single click is heard.

Yeah, OK Ispaqna.
You said "they don't click anymore" and then the second sentence after that you say to "just turn it until you feel it tighten and click".
Guess I still get confused by contradictory statements.
