No one has yet due to the CVT tranny and the $$$ it would take to develop an SC for a fwd car. Turbo is a cheaper option but still no one has done it yet in the max.

I think some one over at NICO did it to a CVT altima coupe but it might of had the 2.5 4cyl.

I was thinking about possibly swapping the CVT out with the old Altima SER auto then turboing the maxima but that is nothing but a dream seeing that the wiring and tuning would be a nightmmare.

Idealy i would assume the old conventional automatics can hold the power better than the CVTs and they should bolt right up since the VQ hasnt changed in 8 years other than minor updates.

Good reading material.

If some one wants a place to start, this would be it.

Keep in mind that this kit has since been sold but it gives and idea of what needs to be dont to possibly fit that into our 7th gens.

yeah with FI the CVT is our weak point. I was reading about a CVT altima that blew up his built trans with a 10 PSI turbo. there is another CVT altima running fine with a turbo at 6 psi I believe?

if you pursue this project, i wish you the best of luck. it will be a lot of time and $$$ I imagine

The 1st article states that he has had the turbo in for over two(2) years making about 370hp with no problem/s, CVT and all.

Looks Good, Sounds Good, but is it Good? Haha. I personally think the Maxima is quick enough as it is. Unless your racing at the track or you have money to waste, go for it! I would turbo rather than supercharge a Maxi though!

I think if properly tuned, it would work but the problem is the tunning. I mean we have the same drive train as the Altima 3.5. Honestly we gotta wait for the new wrx.

Why the new wrx? Well because Subaru is switching to CVTs and they now turbos. Plus believe it or not you can get an automatic wrx. Now of course their cvt is different than ours but I'm sure a little research on a turbo/cvt platform could benefit us in the long run since most japanese automakers are switching to cvt unlike the Americans that keep adding gears. Who really needs an 8 gear tranny? Come on Chrysler, twin clutch or bust (or cvt) lol.

So you would have to keep your ride in DS mode all the time?
