2009 car and tire question

Has anything SIGNIFICANT change from the original 7th gen car?? I'm talking transmissions, suspension, brakes etc. I don't care so much about little things like stitch color or cosmetic. I'm interested to know if something didn't work out on the first car and they changed it in later years.

Also, how many miles are you getting on the factor tires? I am looking at a 36,000 miler, and I need to be able to account for tire costs.

Thanks!

To answer your first question, the only thing that I am aware of is they swapped the compact flash for usb. Significant to me, maybe not so much to others. As far as other reliability issues, it would seem based on the studies I have seen the 09 is just as good or better than more recent vintages.

Re your second question...it all about how you drive and what type of driving you do. As a road warrior, I got about 72,000 out of the RS-As before changing them out. I've heard of others getting as little as 30,000.

I think most here are not exactly fans of their stock RSA tires. Then again, you usually don't hear from people who are happy with the tires, it's always the ones who are having problems that speak up. I've looked up a tire comparison though, and the RSA's ranked VERY low compared to pretty much anything and everything else. I don't have any real problems with my RSA's (18k miles), but I am definitely excited for them to wear out so that I can upgrade.

My stock RSA's started to perform poorly in wet weather at around the 30,000 mile mark. I'm at 36,000 miles and am looking at replacements as we speak. This is mostly suburban driving.

The RSA tire wear rating indicated on the tire side wall say 260 which is on the low side. I am really surprised to see people getting over 30K miles.

PS Michelins have wear ratings of over 400.

I think the 2013 Maxima is still running with the same tranny, brakes, suspension and engine as the first 2009.

There were some noises and creaking with the 2009 suspension bushings which resulted in replacements, which I assume were automatically included for the 2010 production run. And I think there may have been a small adjustment to the CVT software at some point, as the 2009 CVT started out kind of mooshy (improved by a tech bulletin). And the primitive tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) was replaced by a modern one for 2012.
