Question on 1995 maxima purchase

I want to buy a 95 or 96 maxima but am unsure of which trim level to look for.I plan on replacing springs, shocks, adding stut and swaybars. Should this fact influence my purchase.I know the SE model is the most "sporty" but if i'm replacing many parts of the suspension is there any other advantage in buying the SE.My preference is for a fully loaded model(i think gxe).If I buy the loaded model as opposed to the SE am I losing out in any way.+ short of nitrous and superchargers is it possible to get 6 sec 0-60 times with intake, chip,y-pipe exhaust. What would I need to buy to lower 0-60.1/4 mile times. Thanks for any responses

If your planning to mod, go for the GXE. if you get the SE or GLE then your basically throwing money away when you are going to replace all of the things.

heres how it is
base- GXE
sport-SE
Luxury-GLE

I believe its different with auto and 5speed and theres also a "comfort&Convienience" package which im not familiar with.

other things-no ABS, no CD player, sunroof, climate control, leather, and some other things that it doesnt have

Re: Question on 1995 maxima purchase

The SE has some small but significant aesthetic enhancements. Namely, black trim around the windows instead of silver, body-colored front grill, foglights, rear spoiler and SE dials. On the used market, there is not a whole lot of premium for the SE so if you can get it and like the above, then why not? I personally think 4th gens look funny without the spoiler. Mechanically, they are the same. Base GXE's without C&C package will have a speed limiter so best to avoid these.

most people who own maxima's are not looking to go over 120 mph.. and you can get GXE's with spoilers.. NickStam bought his from the dealership with a spoiler..

yeah - GXE is the best for modding......unless its like a 97+ - those got the rev limiters on em. But otherwise..... the GXE has a sun roof option(mine has one), engine wise they all the same

it doesn't matter if its a 97+

the 95 GXE had a limiter too.. i know.. i used to own one..

all maxima's with the exception of GXE's without C&C have limiters.. expect Ben's C&C GXE..

Yes. If you have intermittent wipers and power drivers seat then you got C&C package and no limiter.

Les,

One other point that I'd like to make is that GLE's (which is top of the line) are ONLY MADE WITH AUTOMATIC transmissions. If you want a 5 speed, you'll have to go with the SE or GXE. Seeing that you're replacing suspension, you'll save a little money going with the GXE, BUT you'll have to add a spoiler, you won't get alloys wheels with it, and the seats in the GXE aren't that great! SE seats are better quality, look better and feel better in the turns.... I'd go with an SE if you can get a good deal on one...If you can save like $2,000 or more, go with the GXE.

Good luck!

I can. Your chrome door handles give it away big time. For some reason, the black door handles of my '95 SE look really good to me, whereas the chrome door handles of my white 2k GLE look really good. But a black car with chrome door handles? Sick. Just my opinion.
