So i debadged my trunk awhile ago, and there has always been a very slight amount of residue from the glue still on the trunk, and i figured its about time to get that off of there. I searched around but couldn't really find a good answer to this question :/
How do i get it off? Do i use a product? And will said product damage the paint on the trunk (which seems to be somewhat coarse, and not smooth anyway)

wd40 will make it gel up. or an eraser wheel will take it right off.

 

What do you mean by gel up? like it will be able to be just rubbed off?

 

gel up, meaning it will turn the sticky stuff into booger-like stuff, which wipes right off

 

This is what I'm scared of. I want to de-badge my 5th gen but I don't want it to be left with a tan outline of the "MAXIMA" emblem. Let me know what works to get it off!

i usually use a plastic scraper of some sort with the wd40. and yes, no matter what you do you will see the tan lines from the badges. unless you repaint.

 

If the paint is in good shape it will buff out.

Try some paint polish with a buffing pad, that should get it right out.

i was trying to give the guy a realistic answer, not some bs that i know doesnt work half the time from experience. yes buffing will work if your tan lines are slight. does not always work at all.

 

I had this problem, but I effd up trying to scrape it off with a razor smfh now I got the tan lines and scratches

 

"I" used a heat gun soften the glue and wiped it off with a cloth, then used reducer and clean it completely then used a 3M compound and buffed any scratches left behind while attempting to remove the glue

 

Brake cleaner also works well removing old left over glue.

 

Yes brake cleaner works well. I actually misunderstood and thought you meant brake fluid. LOL
