Need opinion about Pirelli P400 Touring tires

I am about to buy new tires and kind of on limited budget. My driving style is not too agressive, just 75% city and 25% of hwy.

I have found Pirelli P400 Touring tires and size is 215/60TR16 will be mounted to Nissan Maxima 2001 wheels 16 inch and used on my 1997 GLE.

What do you think? I know they are all year tires.

Thanks!

These tires have the wrong speed rating. The 4th/5th Gen Maximas reguire H rated tires or higher. If you like Pirelli, take a look at their P4000 tire. I'm using Dunlop D60 A2s. They are a good for the money. About $65 a peice for 215/60R15.

I am running Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce All Season tires and got them from www.tirerack.com . Good tires in all weather and I am currently driving through the NE snows. Very good traction even after having 40000 miles on them.

I know about those tires, but they are very pricey for me, like 90-100 bucks each, so i am looking for affordable ones, like 60-70 bucks per tire. So what do you suggest brands? names? must be all year tires.

Thanks!

What does the speed rating have to do with what the car requires? If you drive at only a moderate speed (under 100) and don' do a lot of tire-spinning (a higher speed rating helps the tire survive) then I think the P400 should be just fine.

A higher speed rating doesn't necessarily mean a better tire or better performance (although many higher speed rated tires typically are higher performance). It just means that the tire is built to withstand the forces and temperatures of going 112mph, 130, 149, etc, etc. For instance if you drive a ZR1 like a grandmother then even a S-rated tire will do the job, and I've got T-rated tires on my car (from the previous owner) even though my car can go up to 140mph and I've had no problems.

Go to www.tirerack.com and find the P400 and look at the survey results and customer reviews. The survey looks good and they seem like good tires. The survey and reviews make for interesting reading if you're looking for other tires too. They also have roadtests.

So far i found 215/55/16 tire Firestone Firehawk GTA 02 and its HR rated. Seems to be cheap only $70 per tire. What do you think? I am willing to go up to $77 per tire if you can point me in right direction to get good tire, all season for most city driving and i am not racer or agressive driver.
