Im new to this whole nissan thing and im loving it 04 max. Got her last week and when i put my foot in her she drinks alot(kinds like my girl) 2 things(?) 1. I know it calls for premi wich i will use but if im penny pinching is reg ok. so far nothing less than plus. what do u think? 2. anybody uses speed spectre hpr filters they look identical to k$n but cost way less.

the VQ motor in no way sips fuel. ESPECIALLY when you get on the gas. The price you pay.

And if you MUST save a measly 3 dollars per fillup you can use midgrade...but Premium will yield the best eprformance (remember, you like to get on the gas, you've mentioned a time or two). I found that I get way better gas mileage on premium anyhow...more than enough to justify the cost difference.

search. who cares much about results anyway on an intake its a small bolt on part that will give you a small gain regardless of brand, its more for sound.

but really??? wants to buy an intake but can't afford the proper grade of fuel... smfh. save the money that you were gonna spend on an intake and pump premium. or pump premium, save the money and get yourself a half-o mr kushsmokr

there arent really too many brands of intakes for our car. the ebay brand fender CAI is the best one for the money. a short ram is easiest to install. and then theres the injen which goes down by the rad but costs a little too much for me. just rock the ebay CAI.

If your car is burning gas try a tune up before you start using the expensive grade gas that ppl assume burns slower. Find out exactly why your car is buring gas because getting a well known brand name filter and high grade fuel won't make it burn any slower. Try changing your spark plugs, pcv valve, air/fuel ratio sensors, filter, oil change, and stop speeding from light to light. Just saying get a tune up before you start moding your car

i guess i can safely say its not "burning gas". I am getting normal mpg 21-22 city and for the most part, after playing with it a lil when i got it i just cruise, most time below the speed limit. the hpr filter i got is cool i can tell a diffrence in the pedal as far as response or it could b the lucas i added to the gas tank. either way something has made a noticable change mayb both dont know. I did do a minor tune up when i got it. oil change, belts. etc next is transmisson flush

So you just bought a car and you want to put regular in a V6 engine? Let me know how that works out for you then you say you did a minor tune up "belt and oil change" dude changing your belts and oil won't give you any noticable gas mileage. That's maintainence.

And then ya'll wonder why no one pays any attention to the 6thgen

just use premium the difference in power and gas wasted from lower octane will even you out. idk y people think premium sucks to get yea u spend like 5 or 6 more dollars but its what our cars what and our car is like alot of money and u dont want to hurt that engine lol

you mean vq v6 . there are plenty of v6's designed for 87.

this is an excellent video showing how knock happens.

in short 87 explodes easier... this doesn't mean it burns faster, it just takes less energy for it to be ignited. 91 resists combustion more than 87. thats basically what octane rating is. so the vq being 91 rated, putting 87 may make it knock. we got knock sensors so it tells the ecu to pull the timing, but eventually after a certain laod combination (% throttle, % grade of hill, amount of people/items in the car) the ecu can't pull enough timing and thats when the fuel can ignite on its own schedule (knock).
