Interior illumination problem..

Hi,
I was changing the interior lightning bulb (dome + 2x map + 2x Door) in my 1996 Maxima with nice l.e.d. Everything was workin well then while changing the map one, my small precision screw driver touch something and i saw a small spark..
Now i have no interior illumination at all.. The bulb are fine and so is the fuse that i replaced anyway.. Is there a module or an other fuse i can change..?
Thanks.

Fuse # 26 covers most (if not all) of the interior lights, dome and map for example. Double check this fuse. It is the top most fuse of the middle column. If the fuse is good, Pull it out and check it again, preferably with a meter. If the fuse is good (I sure hope it isn't) then check to see if you have 12 volts on one of the pins in the fuse panel.

What you do next is based on what you find. Also inspect your map light socket and make sure you haven't bent anything and have pieces touching.

the 7.5A fuse, labelled INT ILLUM or something like that (quite possibly the one Dennis mentioned) is probably blown.

And don't change bulbs with the car on!

It probably is. I don't have labels on my car.

I have to give him a partial pass on this. Unless you pull the fuse or disconnect the battery, the circuit is hot all the time. And the map light sockets are wired reverse of every other light bulb. The side of the socket which is normally ground is the 12 volts on the map lights.

Lack of information and shaking hands are the culprits here.

Thanks for your help,

i have check ALL the fuse with a test lamp including de bcm fuse, even unplug the battery for 15 minutes, check the bulb etc etc..

Still no light at al inside even the small light ring around the switch is gone. Only the dashboard is working..

If all the fuses and bulb are good.. Whats wrong..? Is there a module or something i miss..?

Thanks again.

Pull the fuse OUT and test it that way...don't trust your test light by itself.

Fuse # 26 powers these things - map light(s), ignition switch keyhole lamp, dome light, step lamps (lights in the doors) and trunk light.

Either swap fuse # 26 with another fuse (of the same color) and see if the lights work. Even better, go buy another fuse and put it in.
