Tacho gone mad

So now I drive everywhere at a minimum of about 3,000. The tach has taken to bouncing around the end stop. When it isn't doing that, it reads consistently 2,300 rpm higher than actual (on tickover it reads 3,000)
Anyone else had this happen? I suppose I'll have to look for one in the For Sale section. How I hate having to take the dashboard to pieces

Yup the white nightmare's was possessed.... Took it to the track 2x w/ no tach and an inaccurate speedo.

How to fix it? Well easy... Take the cluster out... replace the tach... enjoy life.

Sadly I have yet to make a return trip to the track w/ a tach... and I find it quite distracting now

Remove cluster

Remove screws holding Tach down

Sand down the mating area where the screws go to the board

Reinstall screws and torque down the German way (good and tight)

Enjoy

I just posted a how-to fix for my jumpy tach.

TLDR: Replaced caps & reflowed the PCB = tach back to normal.
