New rear valve cover/egr tube now big problems!!!
I recently took on the job of replacing my rear vcg and bought new EGR tube and cleaned out intake manifold and IACV, TB , and MAF. The car was running fine before i took on this project and I put everything back together the same way, and replaced any brittle Hoses. When I go to start the car, it starts up fine right away and ideals a little high but if i give it gas it wont go passed 2400 rpm and the car sounds like it hit rev limiter and goes back down.If I give alot of throttle the car shuts off. I swapped MAF with my friend and it still has the same problem. Does any one know what the hell went wrong?
This would be a great help because the car is for my son and he drives it to school and back.
Thank you.

Typically, if the engine wount go past 2500 it points to an issue with the MAF sensor. Check the sensor and the connections including the wires going into the plug itself as those have been the source of MAF signal problems.
oh yeah haha. Still the possibility that theyr arent in. It sounds like a MAF problem tho, but he said he tested it out with another and still no go.
Im from nyc and we have a big storm on our way so I think its going to have to wait couple days till I get on it..and yes ever gasket and seals where changed.. purchased all from nissan. Any one from ny that might have a code reader? Or is there any way to pull them out through the obc? My bmw has this feature...my maxima is a 1999 gxe

if you replaced the rear valve cover gasket you would have had to remove the intake manifold so i would check to make sure the egr tube is nice and tight on the back of the manifold, check the connectors on the egr valve. maybe you bumped it with a ratchet and knocked a wire loose. maybe the pcv hose came loose and its causing a major vacuum leak. spray carb spray, wd40, brakekleen whatever you have all over the "suspect" areas for a leak. with it running pull off the gas cap to see if its evap related. unplug the maf and see if it runs any different if not theres your problem. just start unpluggin **** with it running until you dont get a reaction from the engine.
Problem Solved!
Thank you everyone for all your help! I looked over all the wiring to the maf and it was brittle. Replaced it and plugged in my friends maf and it works fine since I had it laying around. Tried my maf and it was dead. Took my maf apart, open the top cap by peeling off all the sealant and got it open. Removed the inside metal protection cover and exposed the mother board. The 3 prongs where the maf plug plugs into where not intact. Rewelded the three prungs inside the maf that connect to the maf plug.. Used high temp black silicone and put everything back together. Cleaned maf with that.special maf spray and it all works great again. Thank you everyone. Hope it helps someone else out there.. I knew when it was limited to 2.4k-2.5k rpm it was maf problem.
