Bose Replacement Ideas/Suggestions

I've already replaced my head unit with a Pioneer Avic-Z140BH. It's been great but I now have the Bose Sub cutout problem and a blown door speaker so it's time to replace everything. I plan on using Fatmat on the entire enterior and trunk. Here is the list of Components I plan on using...

Alpine SWR-823D 8" Free-Air Subwoofer
Alpine MRX-M55 Mono Amplifier
Alpine MRX-F65 4-Channel Amplifier
Alpine SPR-60C 6.5" Components for the doors

I'm hoping I can fab some MDF rings and fit those 6.5" in the rear doors. Does anyone have experience with this?

I will also probably leave the rear tweeters out unless I end up with too much low end. In that case I'd find a place to mount them somewhere.

Thought/Ideas/Suggestions? Anyone used any of these components and can offer a review? Thanks!

There is a whole thread on Bose replacement in the audio forum.

The rest is an opinion on the stereo you want to buy. Yep, audio forum too.

Hmm...

1. Principles and recommendations are the same between 4th gen and 5th gen, so it really shouldn't matter.
2. There definitely IS information about 5th gens in the definitive Bose replacement thread. I wrote a lot of the content myself.
