Recommendations to remove lower connection of Power Steering HP Hose
Recommendations to remove lower connection of Power Steering HP Hose
Hi Maixima Owners/Wrench-heads,
I've got all the parts I need to do the High Pressure Power Steering Hose replacement. I have also confirmed my replacement part has the "restrictor" mentioned in other posts about the power steering high pressure hose.
The Nuts/Bolts of the connections on the hose are 24mm.
I am looking specifically to how anyone here might have removed/replaced the bottom part of the hose.
Was there a special tool or technique you used to get to and remove/replace the lower portion of the hose?
Any input is highly appreciated.
Also I am taking pics of the entire process and I plan to post a pictoral step by step to doing the job and I will include all your recommendations.
Thanks for your help!!!

Not really sure what exactly you're asking. Are you asking how to remove the large banjo bolt?
I don't recall ever having any particular troubles with the lower part. The top bolt is more prone to causing problems if I recall correctly.

Exactly - There seems to be about 1-2 inches of space and not much wrenching room on the lower connection. Will a 24mm long handle wrench work? Or Stubby? I've not climbed under the vehicle yet, and I want to make sure I have all the right tools to do the job..

IIRC, I always just use a big ratchet and socket. Like I said, I don't recall ever having any trouble with it, but I can't picture it offhand. For that I'd have to get under there and have a look-see and you can do that as easily as me.
did this once for someone,if i remember right it may have been easier with a bent type hand wrench,
also when reinstalling the new p/s hose tighten the bottom of the hose first
because if you do the top bolt first then it will be bent and twisted at the bottom
and its hard to twist and hold in place with out the car on a lift,
dont forget to bleed the system
